Save
time at the airport with these travel-savvy tactics for a safe,
hassle-free experience.
The
U.S. State Dept. urges all Americans to exercise caution, maintain
heightened security awareness and be vigilant to any unusual
activity.
Purchase
trip/vacation interruption insurance. It is worth the nominal
investment.
Review
all documents in advance for important guidelines and travel
tips. Check either the cruise line or tour company web sites
for information.
Check
with your air carrier to find out when you should arrive at
the airport. On the day of departure, check departing airport's
web site for any newly reported security delays.
Be
at the airport early -- 2 hours or more unless local circumstances
dictate allowing a longer time. Security screenings take additional
time.
Pack
all liquid-based substances, such as hair gel, lotion, shampoo,
cream, non-prescription liquids, and toothpaste in checked baggage.
Make
sure all prescriptions are in original containers and necessary
medical items, your passport and other travel identification
are with you. Limit carry-on items to essential needs and have
all your luggage clearly tagged.
Finish
all refreshments prior to heading to the security checkpoint.
Cooperate
with TSA personnel at all checkpoints and gates; TSA may require
a secondary screening of carry-on baggage at the gate.
Be
patient. Once you arrive at your vacation destination or cruise
ship, you will have a fantastic time!
